Bill Dressler's G-scale garden layout, although not European, provides observers with a truly spectacular viewing experience.  Bill has constructed a near-full-size reproduction of a Pennsylvania RR caboose that acts as the centerpiece of his backyard layout.  Central control of the layout is housed in the caboose along with his collection of locos and fleet of railcars.

Chapter president Barry Kriegsman admires a few of Bill's locomotives that are staged in the yard attached to the rear of the caboose.  Behind Barry is a small dinette table, bench seating, overhead cabinets and other items typically found inside a real caboose.  An overhead cupola is included that undoubtedly is the favorite viewing spot for Bill's junior admirers.

An American steam-powered heavy freighter passes beneath a steel bridge span that supports a passing Pennsy passenger consist.  Real water flows in a specially constructed stream.

The steamer and passenger consist pass each other on one of the many graceful curves on Bill's Layout.

An elaborate tressle bridge leads trains from the storage shed onto the mainline.  Steve scratch-built the bridge from [many, many] pieces of scrap redwood he salvaged following a neighbor's pergola construction. Bill feels that the wood should last quite a while even though it will be exposed to the elements continuously.  Chapter member Mark Paskus admires the structure.

A beautiful fall afternoon provided the atmosphere for a visit from chapter members to see this amazing layout.  There's plenty of room in Bill's yard to view his layout from any perspective.

A closer view of the main portion of the layout.  Several chapter members are examining a loop beneath the working replica of a grade crossing signal, complete with working warning lamps and bells.

A panoramic view of Bill's back yard and layout.  A newly-constructed interlocking tower appears in the picture to the left.  Access to the tower is from wooden stairs below and Bill already plans to include a remote set of layout controls for an even more spectacular viewing experience.  As you can see and imagine, Bill is a stickler for details and he and his wife obviously have a green thumb.

Bill explains the next generation of computer control that he is installing to several chapter members.  A complex system of electronic relays to be housed in a reproduction switch control panel is "on deck".
