Useful Presentations

The following items are descriptions of presentations that are generally made to club members during Chapter Meetings.

  1. A Visit to My Studio, By Justin Maguire, offered at the ETE-ENE Chapter Meeting on January 19, 2021. Justin describes his studio as a place to do drafting, sketching, and to build models. Justin conducts a virtual guided tour of his extensive studio and workshop, explaining design considerations and organization, along with critical tools and equipment. Justin is a professional model maker and layout builder, whose first career was in industrial design, and later in naval architecture. Justin’s work is known for its realism, pleasing appearance, and superb craftsmanship. While most of us will never have a workshop as complete as Justin’s, there is much to learn from this inspiring presentation. Click on this link to view Justin’s Presentation.

2. As he reviews the new products, Robert shares his insights from a special online meeting with the Export Manager of Märklin (in Goeppingen) who oversees the US operation. Robert’s presentation occurred during the February 16, 2021 chapter meeting. The meeting provided a wealth of knowledge on both the prototypes and the models themselves…much of which is in addition to the information mentioned in the 2021 New Items brochure. Robert is the proprietor of RJF Trains, a leading Märklin dealer and service provider in the United States. Robert’s knowledge of Märklin and related products is extensive, and he is regarded as an expert on digital decoders and upgrades. Robert has worked with Märklin on a number of projects, including the original Märklin Digital Users Book from 1987 and the 0340 Signal Book published in 2002.
